Foreign ministers of India-Pak to meet in new york, says centre after Imran Khan’s letter

Foreign ministers of Indian and Pakistani will meet in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly next week.

After the prime minister of Pakistan Imran Khan wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, New Delhi had agreed to a meeting between Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj and her Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

Earlier in the letter to Pakistan’s PM Imran Khan, PM Modi had conveyed India’s commitment to pursue meaningful” and “constructive” engagement with Pakistan and emphasising the need to work for a terror-free South Asia.

Foreign ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar has said, “It is a meeting, not a resumption of dialogue, we have just agreed to the meeting. The agenda is not finalized and the date for the meeting is being finalised by permanent missions of the two countries in New York.”
