Former Delhi Congress MLAs demand MP ticket for Muslim candidate

New Delhi: Four former Congress MLAs of Delhi Assembly held a press conference at a hotel located at Daryagunj, New Delhi and resolved to write a letter to Mr. Rahul Gandhi demanding a ticket for a Muslim candidate from New Delhi for Lok Sabha.

In the letter, they stated that according to Census, 18% Muslims reside in Delhi and Chandni Chowk and East Delhi Parliamentary have considerable concentration of Muslim voters.

It has been the tradition of Congress party to nominate a Muslim candidate to Lok Sabha from Delhi. Earlier, former CM of Delhi had given a hint that Mr. Haroon Yousuf will be given Lok Sabha Ticket from Delhi. They also said that if a Muslim candidate is given Lok Sabha Ticket from Delhi, a good message would be sent to the voters.

The signatories of the letter are: Mr. Shoaib Iqbal, Mr. Chowdhary Mateen Ahmed, Mr. Hasan Ahmed and Mr. Asif Mohammed Khan.
