Free cataract surgeries to people in 8 months: CM

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today announced to conduct health camps to provide free services of cataract surgery, other eye related ailments in the state and offer goggles to the patients. The Government, he said, has taken a decision to this extent and will conduct health camps for about seven to eight months, he declared amid applause in the House from treasury benches.

KCR was addressing the Assembly during a debate on Appropriation Bill for 2018-19 fiscal. Much to the delight of the people and the members the leader of the house asserted that the government will bear complete expenses towards eye testing, cataract or other surgeries of eyes and provide the patients with goggle sets. “We have conducted a high level meeting in this regard with Health Minister Dr C Lakshma Reddy and officials and will soon announce the dates”, he said.

KCR also said that the Health Minister was asked to see that all the people in the state get health cards and get treatment for eye related problems. The government was determined to bear the expenditure for the health of the people, he said. (NSS)
