Fringe group uses Kareena’s morphed photo to warn students against ‘love jihad’

JAIPUR: A fringe right wing group uses pamphlets and manuals carrying morphed photo of Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan as warning against ‘love jihad’.
According to a report published in The Wire, the Chennai-based Hindu Spiritual and Service Foundation organized a five-day fair for lakhs of students from government schools to spread the message of adopting a ‘Hindu lifestyle’.
An excerpt from the pamphlet read, “Frequently check the female’s belongings, call and SMS details, warn the Muslim boy if found with a Hindu girl, call Muslims as disgusting/terrorist/smuggler/traitor/Pakistan supporter in front of females at home.”
The organizer used the morphed image of actress half covered with a niqab on the pamphlets for educating the students on love jihad.
When the publication questioned on using the actress’s picture on the pamphlets, Bajrang Dal’s Coordinator, Chauthmal Gupta said, “The reason for using Kareena Kapoor Khan’s case was to make these kids, who idolise all the Khans, understand that love jihad is a trap.”
The organizer of the fair ‘HSSF’ is said to be linked to the RSS and its affiliate, the Rashtriya Sewa Bharati.
In January 2015, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s (VHP) young women’s wing Durga Vahini had used the same morphed face of filmstar on the cover of its magazine Himalay Dhwani to address “love jihad”.
