Furniture start-up Pepperfry forays into home interior designing

Bengaluru: Online furniture marketplace Pepperfry on Thursday announced its foray into the home interior design space to provide end-to-end design and home improvement solutions.

“With the launch of ‘Pepperfry Bespoke’, we aim to be a full-stack home interior solutions provider,” Pepperfry founder and Chief Operating Officer Ashish Shah told reporters here.

Through its Bespoke arm, the company will offer consumers home design solutions by experts, three-dimensional visualization, space optimization, budget planning, false ceiling, plumbing, civil work, modular solutions, painting and electrical work.

The company, which already offers Bespoke services in Bengaluru, Mumbai and Gurugram, will set up 17 new Bespoke studios in 10 cities including Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Delhi by 2020, Shah said.

Each of the Bespoke studios will be set up at an investment ranging from Rs 50-70 lakh and incurs an average monthly operating cost of Rs 3-7 lakhs, a company spokesperson told IANS.

“Nearly 8-10 design experts will be working at each of the studios full-time to offer the services,” the spokesperson said.

With an average of one lakh transactions on its retail website each month, the company expects at least 10-15 per cent of its consumers making use of its home designing expertise.

Founded in 2011, Mumbai-based Pepperfry has so far set up 39 furniture studios to showcase its products in 22 cities, including Bengaluru, New Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Gurugram, Noida, Chandigarh, Pune and Lucknow.
