Gautam Buddha’s statue should be installed at disputed site: Savitri Bai Phule

Savitri Bai Phule added that name changing politics will not survive.

Bahraich: Amidst demands to construct Ram Mandir in Ayodhya ahead of 2019 elections, BJP’s Bahraich MP Savitri Bai Phule said the statue of Gautam Buddha should be installed on the disputed site in Ayodhya, as statues of Buddha were recovered during excavation and academic research show that the place is associated with Buddha.

Savitri Bai said our country runs on the constitution. Everyone has to follow the constitution. According to Inquilab, Savitri Bai said as per the constitution no person has a right to hurt the religious sentiments of others. She said names of places like Mughal Sarai, Allahabad, and Faizabad have been changed, now it is talked about changing names of Aligarh, Taj Mahal and Lucknow. She asked, did Dalits, Muslims and Backward Classes not have a role in Indian freedom struggle? If they had, then why the names of those elders after whose names the places have been named, are being wiped off. Those who are wiping of the history are violating the constitution, she said.

Savitri Bai Phule added that name changing politics will not survive.
