Germany: Masjid at Hagen set ablaze, huge damage reported

Hagen: An unknown person set ablaze Jamia Masjid located at Hagen, Cologne in Germany. Luckily, no casualties were reported.

Maulana Omar Oral, Imam of the Masjid informed on Saturday that this incident took place at 10 a.m. (local time). The culprit set ablaze the dustbin and other barricades earlier which damaged the masjid.

The Imam has expressed his gratitude that no casualties took place. However, the gate of the masjid got damaged due to which smoke spread inside the masjid which destroyed the furniture of the masjid.

He also told that police examined the incident with the help of CCTV cameras and found that the culprit was seen taking out something from his pocket and putting it on the entrance gate after which fire broke out.

The imam told that it is our bounden duty to reach out to persons among whom we live and should highlight the tenets of our faith. He was confident that such attacks won’t refrain the Muslims from following their religion.

This masjid is associated with the Islamic Community National View which is the largest Muslim organization of Germany.
