GHMC chief felicitates sanitary staff, officials for Solid Waste Management Award

GHMC Commissioner Dr B. Janardhan Reddy today said the GHMC could get the Centre’s prestigious award for Solid Waste Management from Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Corporators, officials, public representatives, NGOs like RWAs, hotel managements, citizens played a responsible role by joining hands with the GHMC to achieve the Solid Waste Management Award.

The Commissioner participated in a program organized by UFERWAS (United Federation of Residential Welfare Association) at Harihara Kala Bhavan, Secunderabad today along with Zonal Commissioners, Additional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners and senior officials of various wings. The Commissioner felicitated the sanitary staff and all the officials, who were actively involved with in the sanitation activities and praised everyone for their active participation in getting the prestigious award.

The Commissioner thanked all the RWAS for their active participation and helping the GHMC from time to time with regard to segregation of garbage and other sanitation activities which are being taken at their colonies with which the GHMC was getting good name and fame and receiving various awards because of the effective team work.

The GHMC was also creating awareness on the process of segregation of garbage in coordination with various organizations, including five lakh students. He also felt that 10 lakh students in the educational institutions could also be involved in awareness programs in the coming days with which one student can create awareness to about 10 people so that one crore target can be reached for better implementation of sanitation activities in the near future.

The function was organized by UFERWAS, which selected five best workers in five different categories like Best Swachh auto driver, sweeper, sanitation supervisor and others in each circle where the Commissioner personally felicitated all the sanitation staff, officials with shawls and handed over appreciation certificates for their services rendered as a token of encouragement.

Later, the Commissioner along with all the staff and representatives of various organization took oath with regard to Swachh Principles. All ACs, ZCs, DMCs, AMOHs, Entomology Wing and representatives of various organizations. including area corporators participated and addressed the gathering at Harihara Kala Bhavan today. (NSS)
