GHMC dismantles more than 70 illegal constructions

Hyderabad: GHMC started a campaign to dismantle illegal constructions. So far, it has dismantled more than 70 buildings which were constructed without obtaining proper permission.

Action is being taken to dismantle 25 more buildings which are under construction. GHMC took this step after the High Court of Telangana passed strictures.

It is alleged that GHMC is targeting the buildings of weaker sections whereas only notices are being issued to the influential persons.

GHMC officials maintained that the action taken so far for dismantling illegal buildings is the result of a review of the records. All the owners of such buildings were issued notices earlier and warnings were given to them that in case they don’t get the permissions for construction of their buildings regularized, their buildings would be dismantled.

This action has been taken after the High Court issued orders. The citizens requested the local leaders to make a representation to GHMC authorities for stopping the dismantling of buildings. They also requested to initiate stern action against rich persons.

According to the reports, GHMC is facing difficulties since there are no proper records. It is also mentioned that the officers who granted permissions for these constructions have managed to destroy these records.
