GHMC sets Nov 15 as dead line for BGGs to install compost machines

Hyderabad: As per Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016, all the organizations, generating above 100 kg waste per day are considered as Bulk Garbage Generators (BGGs).

Accordingly, all the buildings occupied by the Central Government Departments or Undertakings, State Government Departments or Undertakings, Local Bodies, Public Sector Undertakings or Private Companies, Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Schools, Colleges, Universities, other Educational Institutions, Hostels, Hotels (food processing units), Commercial Establishments, Markets, Places of Worship, Stadia and Sports Complexes, Clubs, Residents Welfare Associations/Gated Communities, Bus stations, Railway stations and so on having an average waste generation rate exceeding 100kg per day (of all waste streams put together).

Accordingly GHMC served notices and paper notifications to all Bulk Garbage generators insisting them to install on-site Compost machines on their premises. Now, the GHMC has set November 15 as dead line for all the BGGs to install them. In case, any BGG fails to implement the same within the specified period, GHMC will enforce and take action against them without prior intimation.

For the convenience of Bulk Garbage Generators (BGGs), GHMC will conduct exhibition of Onsite Waste Composting Machines on November 13 at People’s Plaza, Necklace Road from 11 am to 5 pm which deals with demo and sale of all kinds of onsite compost machines. All the leading OWC machine manufacturers/suppliers will be participating in the exhibition and other interested OWC machine manufacturers/suppliers can also participate. The GHMC will provide space and power supply to OWC machine manufactures/suppliers to give demo to visitors.
In this regard, the GHMC appealed to all the BGGs to participate in exhibition. As the GHMC was continually striving to achieve better sanitation and solid waste management in the city, it is expected from all the BGGs to co-operate and undertake immediate required action in implementing the same.
