The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) had spent Rs. 43.44 crore on various works for beautification of Hyderabad city in view of the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) beginning from Tuesday.
According to GHMC Commissioner Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy, sanction was given initially to 100 works costing Rs. 45.64 Crore. Of them, six works costing Rs. 2.20 Cr were cancelled due to various reasons. The net works taken up under GES are 94 at a cost of Rs.43.44 Cr. They include BT roads (40 nos @ Rs.26.98 Cr), Footpaths ( 30 nos @ Rs.12.22 Cr), Lane marking (17 nos @ Rs.3.14 Cr) and other works like road cutting restoration, Table drains, CC Patches etc., (7 Nos @ Rs. 1.10 Cr).
The Commissioner said strict tender conditions were imposed with a clear cut deadline for completion of all works. Qualification criteria and 2AN-B formula was followed during evaluation of tenders, he said. Apart from these, other 7 miscellaneous works costing Rs. 1.10 Cr were also completed.
He claimed that almost 94% of the total works have been completed and the balance works of lane marking and paintings will be completed on Monday night.
Kalakriti art gallery has sponsored artist Dallas Delphi to paint the hi-tech city flyover and also sponsored two statues done by artist Shivarama Chary for display. Manohar, a city based sculptor gave 10 statues voluntarily from his Kria Art Foundation for display. ITC Hotel and Avasa have sponsored the Gachibowli flyover paintings; Biological E has sponsored vertical gardens and greenery on medians; Aparna Group has sponsored smart toilets and DLF has sponsored animal shaped planters.
Various city based hotels like Paradise and Shah Ghouse have sponsored decorative lighting. Students of SV College of Fine Arts are painting trees, pots, and walls voluntarily.
The GHMC Commissioner expressed heartfelt thanks to all the artists for their contribution and affection in making city look so colouful as never before, for making the GES preparations a grand success and a memorable affair for the participants of GES as well as for the citizens of Hyderabad. (INN)
