Girl rescued from child marriage excels in cricket & felicitated by Rachakonda CP

The minor girl, who was rescued by the Rachakonda Police and Balala Hakkula Sangham from child marriage in April last year, has excelled at National cricket tournament and will be playing for Under-19 Rugby to be held at LB Stadium in the next couple of days.

Anusha showcased an all round performance during Under-19 cricket match held in Madhya Pradesh recently. Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat, IPS, on Tuesday congratulated the young lady for her exceptional performance and assured all assistance in future.

Speaking on the occasion, Bhagwat said the families should encourage their daughters and put an end to “discrimination against women”. When she was below 18 years, she was rescued from marriage with a boy under 21 years which is illegal. The CP said the “Police department will play a care-taker role for Anusha. We will provide needful financial help till she completes her academics,” he said. Apart from Anusha, her family members and coach, Balala Hakkula Sangham Honorary President Achyutha Rao and others were also present. (NSS)
