Give six saplings to each house: CS asks Collectors

Chief Secretary SP Singh today directed the Collectors to focus on distribution of multiple varieties of saplings among people in towns, districts across the state. At a video conference on Harithaharam program here he said that the government wants to expand green cover to create better environment.
Singh asked the collectors to involve private agencies, local bodies and coordination of the officials for the successful conduct of the program which is prestigious for the government. At least six saplings of fruits and flowers should be given among the people creating awareness he said. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is for the speedy expansion of the green cover as a social movement and steps need for protecting them with complete responsibility.

Let the people not get confused as to where they get the saplings of their choice he said and asked the officials to press staff to make announcements at main places of the selected towns and villages. Besides involving local colonies, apartments, NGOs, businessmen, industrialists, local bodies institutions officials can use social responsibility funds for the purpose. Third phase of Harithaharam has produced 42 cr saplings in 2925 nurseries under forest and rural development wings he said. As Singareni management is taking up the green drive in a big manner other offices should follow suit. Forest officials were directed to press vehicles to shift the saplings to various places including schools, colleges, institutions, government offices, parks and open places and ensure tree guards are used for protection and monitor.
