‘Government has gone to war with people’: Rahul Gandhi at HTLS 2018

NEW DELHI: Congress president Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on Friday said that the PM Modi-led-BJP government is at war with people.

Speaking at the 16th Hindustan Times Leadership Summit in New Delhi, Gandhi accused the Modi government of imposing a “single, suffocating ideology on 1.3 billion people.”

The 48-year-old Congress leader criticised the ruling BJP for the way it has handled the economy. “The economy is decimated, the rupee is on its knees… the informal system is decimated, public confidence is in tatters,” he said. “This is the price of hatred… Aspiration of people has been turned into hatred.”

He also criticised demonetisation, GST and BJP’s concept of Aadhaar. He said that the Congress’ version of the GST was completely different from the BJP’s vision. “Our vision was a simplified GST. Not designed to harass people,” he said.
