Govt. bans telecast of 30 Pakistani, Islamic channels in Kashmir

Srinagar: The government of Jammu and Kashmir has reportedly banned more than 30 Pakistani and Islamic channels in the valley. It ordered cable operators to stop telecast of those channels stating that these channels pose a threat to peace and tranquillity.

According to sources, the channels that have come under the government’s radar include the Pakistani and Islamic channels that currently operate mainly from Pakistan and the Gulf countries.

Meanwhile, the cable operators are worried over the ban claiming that this could cause massive losses to them as they have huge viewership in the Valley. Some are said to have surrendered their cable connections in protest.
