Govt orders CBI probe against Ashok Vajpayee for misusing funds

New Delhi: The government has initiated a CBI investigation against the former president of Lalit Kala Akademi, Ashok Vajpayee for allegedly misusing academy’s funds.

Vajpayee was one amongst many who were involved in the award returning campaign against the government. The allegation against him includes providing government facilities to artists for free, reported Sautak.

The audit conducted by the academy itself had found that there were multiple instances of violation.

To condemn the murder of literator MM Kalburgi, an award return campaign was started in September 2015.

Hindi painter Uday Prakash had decided to return his Sahitya Akademi Award. After this many authors and artists joined hands and Ashok Vajpayee was also one of them.

Vajpayee has been vocal against certain policies of the Modi government and has consistently criticized them in media.
