GST on 49 items get trimmed, 29 under 0% slab

New Delhi: The Goods and Service Tax (GST) Council has cut down the rates on around 49 items on Thursday, Uttarakhand finance minister Prakash Pant said. The decision was taken at council’s 24th meeting in Delhi.

Pant, who is also a member of the Council, said that 29 items of handicraft have been kept under 0 per cent slab. The Union budget is to be presented on February 1 and the decision was expected to come ahead of it, quotes TOI.

The Council is yet to take a decison on simplification of GST process and its filing, Pant said.

Pant also said the Council has not considered petroleum and real state to take under GST.
