GST rollback meant to win Gujarat polls: CPI

CPI National General Secretary Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy today slammed the Centre for rolling back GST slab rate by GST Council Meeting in Guwahati only to win the elections in Gujarat.

In a pressnote, Reddy accused the RSS-BJP led Narendra Modi Government of deceiving the people in the name of GST and demonetization earlier. GST Council decision on Friday to slash rates across the board feels the timing of the trimming down clearly indicates that the exercise is being done eyeing the ensuing Gujarat assembly elections. He charged that nothing else could have forced the RSS-BJP led Narendra Modi government and the adamant finance minister Arun Jaitley to resort to such a rollback.

Such steps will not help the poor and common man already hardly hit by the note ban decision he fumed. Sudhakar Reddy also said that its argument is proved right that the Modi Government took a draconian decision to hit the people with note ban and GST and now roll back of some of the slabs which actually needs further reduction.
