Guarantor countries to set up Joint Working group for Syria

With on-going clashes in Syria and no end to civil war in the region, Turkey, Russia and Iran have decided to establish a Joint Working Group to set up a constitutional committee for Syria revealed a source on condition of anonymity.

The committee will come up in Geneva and the group will have experts from the three guarantor countries to ease negotiations with Syrian and negotiations under the UN said the source on Wednesday, reported MEM.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry on Tuesday confirmed that discussions on an agreement in principle and the lists proposed by the Syrian regime and opposition has been held.

“During the meeting, they discussed the formation of a constitutional committee and its codes of practice which constitute an important step in the struggle of finding a political solution to the Syrian crisis,” the ministry said.

UN Special Envoy to Syria Staffan de Mistura is scheduled to meet with officials from Egypt, France, Germany, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, UK, and the US on Friday while he will address UN Security Council on the two-day talks.
