Gujarat to continue procuring peanut at MSP: Rupani

Gandhinagar (Gujarat): Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has said that the state government would continue to purchase peanuts at Minimum Support Price (MSP).

It was decided in the first Cabinet meeting of new Gujarat government on Thursday.

“We have handed over departments to all ministers in the first Cabinet meeting that was held today. It has been decided to continue procuring peanut at MSP. The government will purchase entire peanut stock and has decided to arrange warehouses for the same,” Rupani said.

He also said that the Cabinet also discussed to implement Gujarat Self-Financed Schools (Regulation of Fees) Act, 2017 as soon as possible.

“Gujarat is the only state in India that has passed an act to regulate fee structure of self-financed schools, which has been upheld by Gujarat High Court on Wednesday. The Cabinet decided to implement the act as soon as possible,” Rupani said.

The High Court here upheld the Gujarat Self-Financed Schools (Regulation of Fees) Act, 2017 that was passed by the state legislative assembly in March and ruled that private schools cannot engage in profiteering. (ANI)
