Gujarat Polls: Dalit leader Jignesh to contest from Vadgam

Gujarat: Dalit leader Jignesh Mewani, a rising voice against ruling BJP party had earlier told he has no plans of joining any party leader has now announced that he shall contest as an independent member from North of Gujarat from Vadgam in the upcoming assembly elections in Gujarat.

According to the sources Congress is likely to support Jignesh’s candidature from Vadgam.
In a media interview Mr. Jignesh he said, “my role is to ensure that the over seven per cent Dalits in Gujarat don’t vote for the BJP.”

Sources say OBC leader Alpesh Thakor is all set to contest from Radhanpur on a Congress’s ticket which the party had declared earlier.

The assembly polls in the areas are scheduled for 14 December 14 and 17 December respectively.
