Gurugram schools follow Delhi’s lead, to remain closed till Sunday

Gurugram (Haryana): Following Delhi’s lead, all government and private schools in Gurugram will also remain closed on November 10 and 11, due to the toxic smog.

Yesterday, Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said the air quality in the national capital was worsening and directed all schools to remain closed till Sunday.

The Gurugram district administration undertook a slew of measures today after high levels of PM 2.5 were found.

Besides closing down schools, all brick kilns, hot mix plants and stone crushers have also been shut down till further orders.

As the entry of heavy goods traffic has been banned into Delhi by the state government, the Gurugram Traffic Police will be diverting heavy traffic from entering into Delhi. Some traffic congestion on NH 48 is expected for which sufficient traffic duties are being deployed.

If current situation persists for next 48 hours, a decision will be taken to stop construction activities, said the administration.

The MCG and the Haryana State Pollution Control Board have been directed to stringently enforce rules for dust control in construction activities and impose fines.

Apart from it, the police have been directed to take swift action against visibly polluting vehicles along with strict enforcement of PUC (pollution under control) norms. (ANI)
