H. Vishwanath elected as JD(S) state president

Bengaluru: Senior Janata Dal (Secular) leader Adaguru H. Vishwanath on Sunday was elected as the state president of the party.

Vishwanath succeeded Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy.

Vishwanath was elected as the president in the presence of party president HD Deve Gowda and senior JD(S) leaders HD Kumaraswamy, and Danish Ali.

Speaking on the occasion, Deve Gowda said that the party has chosen Vishwanath on the basis of his capabilities.
“It is the message to those people who call JD(S) as a party of father and sons, in fact, we have chosen H.

Vishwanath as the President of the party on his capabilities. Mr. Yeddyurappa who used to criticize with unparliamentary language and harsh words by calling it a party of father and son will get an answer to buy this decision.”

” I am sure he will lead the party with the confidence of all the leaders and even in Lok Sabha elections he will take all leaders into confidence and also I am sure he will concentrate more on making party strong with the support of students youth and women,” he added.

Vishwanath, who quit the Congress recently, joined the JD(S) on Tuesday at a function organised at JP Bhavan (party office) here.

Vishwanath, who was associated with the Congress for nearly four decades, decided to quit the party accusing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of ignoring senior party leaders and workers, who were “responsible for the growth of the party.” (ANI)
