Hajj 2018: 577 women selected under mahram quota

New Delhi: 577 seats were allotted for women under mahram quota. 500 of them are under reserved quota while 77 seats belong to states where applications were received less than the quota. The decision regarding the seats was taken in a meeting of Hajj Committee of India on April 21.

For the first time, women from India will perform Holy Pilgrimage without a mahram. A total of 604 women had applied under the quota.

Chief Executive Officer Hajj Committee of India Dr Maqsad Ahmed Khan has asked the 577 women selected under mahram quota to submit the receipt of deposited amount, medical screening and finance certificate at their respective state Hajj Committees.
