What happened in the press conference of 4 SC Justices, explains The Wire editor

The statement of four senior justices of the Supreme Court, Justices J Chelameswar, Ranjan Gogoi, Madan B Lokur and Kurian Joseph has caused a stir by holding a press conference on Friday to express their dissent against the way Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra was functioning.

“Many things less than desirable have happened in the last three months. We have a responsibility to the nation to the institution that is why we are here,” Justice Chelameswar said while addressing the reporters at his residence.

“Several times we tried to persuade the chief justice towards getting things right but we failed. Democracy cannot survive like this,” he had added.
