Hyderabad: Caretaker Minister T Harish Rao today lashed out at the Congress leader S Jaipal Reddy for lying on irrigation projects and Mission Bhagiratha waters.
Addressing the media at Telangana Bhavan here today, Harish Rao said the Congress hit a self goal by talking lies on the development works taken up by the TRS government. “Jaipal Reddy should tender an unconditional apology to the people for talking “nonsense” on the irrigation projects in old Palamur district. We are ready with the details for an open debate with Jaipal Reddy on the irrigation projects and purified waters through the flagship Mission Bhagiratha scheme. Else Jaipal Reddy should say sorry for his useless comments against the government”, he retorted.
“It is an open fact that the irrigation projects were completed in the Palamur district and we have irrigated eight lakh acres in the district alone and a total of 25 lakh acres, including 13 lakh acres stabilization of crops. More than 15,000 habitats were being offered purified waters, including more than 11000 house-holds connected with taps to get purified waters”, Harish Rao claimed. “The people of Palamur in general and Kalwakurty in particular are laughing at Jaipal Reddy for his unworthy comments”, he said. The Telugu Desam had circulated booklets of Dhana Yagnam against then ruling Congress on corruption involved in irrigation projects was now holding hands with that party, he fumed.
Jaipal Reddy as the Central minister did not complete irrigation projects, failed to support the statehood and the Congress regime did not complete the works. He took serious exception to Jaipal Reddy’s comments that the TRS rulers gave contracts to Andhra leaders and involved in six per cent of corruption and amassed illegal wealth. The Congress has no right to talk of corruption as it miserably failed to complete a single project and encouraged Andhra-based Navarathna Companies through tenders for development works.
While the TRS has saved about Rs 550 crore in tenders process to the government in four-and-a-half years, the Congress regime had burdened the exchequer with Rs 2,600-crore and Jaipal should come for an open debate on this, he challenged. “We, the TRS will ask the people for votes and the Congress should dare to do so on the same issue”, he said. He also said the Congress was full of chief ministerial aspirants.
