Harita Haram: KCR to embark on surprise visits

With the green drive Harita Haram going on in full swing across the state, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday informed that he would make surprise visits to districts from Monday to check the drive and focus on protecting the saplings planted as part of the green drive. Sources informed that of the 46 crore saplings about 12 crore saplings have been planted so far.

Participating in a review meeting with his Cabinet colleagues and senior officials, the Chief Minister said that the participation and coordination of the people’s representatives will reflect on the outcome of the green drive. He urged the peoples’ representatives and officials to ensure that the plants planted during the drive are protected and they are taken care of.

KCR directed the ministers and the MLAs to stay put in their respective districts and ensure that the green drive is successful. He said that the aim of the green drive was to transform the state into a green corridor and added that the benefits of the drive would be borne by the state on a long term basis. The Chief Minister said that Rs 1500 Crore was ready on hand for further action as part of expansion of the green drive.

Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao, Chief Secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma and other officials were present in the meeting. (INN)
