Haryana: Murder accused opens fire at Sub-inspector killing him

Gurugram: A murder accused in Haryana shot at Sub-Inspector of police during an encounter, killing him on Thursday night.

The incident happened in Haryana’s Rewari’s Dharuhera when Crime Branch In-charge SI Ranbir Singh, 49, had gone to arrest Naresh after he received a tip-off on the accused.

The SI along with his team reached the Dharuhera-Bhiwadi Road around 9:30 p.m. and the accused reportedly opened fire at the police causing fatal injuries to the police officer.

The officer was declared brought dead at a hospital, however the accused was arrested by the police team.

Revealing insight into crime record of Naresh, Superintendent of Police, Rewari, Rahul Sharma, said the accused hailed from Kharkhara village and had shot dead one of his villager running a dhaba in Dhaurhera on October 31.

He was a wanted criminal in the murder case. He will be produced in the court on Friday, The Hindu reports.

“He is involved in three cases of murder and attempts to murder. SI Ranbir had arrested him earlier as well,” said Mr. Kumar.
