Hisar: One person was arrested in Hisar on Thursday in connection with the rape and murder of a six-year-old girl in Haryana’s Uklana area, the police said.
Addressing a press conference here, superintendent of police (Hisar) Manisha Choudhary said the accused would be produced in the local court tomorrow (Friday) to seek his custody.
He, however, refused to divulge more about the accused saying revealing the identity at this stage could hamper the ongoing investigations in the “sensitive” matter.
On December 9, a six-year-old girl was allegedly raped and killed in Uklana.
The incident came to light when passersby noticed the body of the girl on a deserted street.
Unidentified men had allegedly abducted her when she was sleeping with her sister and mother in their home in a slum area. The men then raped and killed her, police had said.
The doctors who conducted the postmortem said the accused inserted a wooden stick into the girl’s private parts, which ruptured her intestine.
