New Delhi: National President All India United Democratic Front and MP Maulana Badruddin Ajmal Qasmi welcomed the court verdict in which 16 Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) personnel were served the life sentence. The judgment has boosted the morale of the oppressed and the people struggling for justice. He said although the justice was delayed, at least the guilty were punished, though the victims had to wait 31 years to get justice.
Maulana said that the Hashimpura massacre was the worst example of oppression and brutality. Instead of maintaining peace during the riots, the PAC jawans picked up Muslim men from their houses, killed them and threw the bodies into the river.
Despite the revelation of all this the lower court had acquitted all the accused.
