HC directs Centre, EC to provide Central security to Revanth Reddy at his own cost

Hyderabad: Directing the Union government and the State Electoral Officer to provide Central security to State Congress working president Revanth Reddy as he liked, the High Court today asked the latter to bear the full expenditure.

The High Court gave this direction to the respondents after the Congress leader (Revanth Reddy) filed a petition seeking four-member Central security as he perceived threat to his life from the State government as he was fighting against Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. As it was election time and faces threat to his life, Revanth Reddy sought four plus four security group to protect him round-the-clock. Stating that he won’t trust the State government, Revanth Reddy said there was no positive response from the Election Commission and the Centre to provide him Central security.

The High Court heard both the parties and passed orders directing the Centre and State Electoral Officer to provide Central security as sought by Revanth Reddy and clarified that the petitioner will bear the entire expenditure.
