Hyderabad: The High Court has dispossed 29 Writ petitions filed claiming 2400 acres forest land of Mahavir Harina vanasthali National park assay no.7, Mansoorabad village of Saroornagar mandal (by 1500 people) in favour of forest department

The case of forest land grabbing by miscreants under the guise of claimants of ancestral property admeasuring 2400 acres of land in sy. No.7 Mansoorabad, village, Saroornagar mandal ,Rangareddy District filed as 29 Writ petitions on Forest dept. by 1500 people has been disposed of by the Highcourt of Telangana in favour of forest department. By examining the case as mischief by the land grabbers to encroach forest lands.

Mahavir vanasthali National park is declared as National Park in the year 1994 with an area of nearly 4,000 acres. No claims were received by the then Collector regarding the said land in the process of declaring land as National park. Protection wall around the NP is built by 1996.After so many years suddenly the claimants have filed petitions in the name of ancestral jagir. The efforts of the FRO Hayathnagar Ravinder Reddy to present the case with all technical details to the high court has won the case in favour of department.

Even today he is receiving threats from the people who filed cases. .Un deterred by the threats Rangareddy forest field staff have succeeded to protect the forest lands. The efforts of .,DFO Rangareddy Bheema naik and APCCF Siddhanandkukrety and Government pleader , Forests in pursuing the case are commendable.

Mahavir Harinavanasthali National park an Oasis of vegetation in the desert of concrete buildings in Hyderabad.Is situated in the south East of Hyderabad City on National High way towards Vijayawada. 15 km away from city centre. The park is named after Mahavir, A jain Saint, In commemoration of his 2500 th nirvan anniversary in the year 1975. The park was officially declared as a national park in 1994. The place where the park is located was once a private ground for the Nizam, rulers of Hyderabad. A deer park was set up in order to preserve this precious heritage and rehabilitate it. It was donated by the Nizam to establish a national park. This park is spread over an area of nearly 4000 acres. Preservation of the natural Eco- system, Improving awareness and promotion of eco-tourism are the main objectives for which the park is being managed. The main forest type is southern Dry Deciduous Forests. Some areas covered with grasslands and thorn forest. The fauna includes spotted deer, black buck, Four Horned Antelope peafowls, wild boar, porcupine, monitor lizard, different species of snakes and birds.
