Health kits to school girls on Aug 24: Srihari

Hyderabad: Haritha Patashala – Haritha Telangana program will be taken up in all Schools and Colleges across the State on August 25 and health and hygiene kits will be distributed among six lakh girls of schools and colleges in all the 31 districts in the State from August 24 to 31, Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari today said.

Srihari conducted a high-level review meeting at Secretariat here today and discussed with the officials on the two programs. He stated that to turn the State into Haritha Telangana with clean and green environment, the Collectors, Revenue and Forest officials have to coordinate for its success.

The Deputy CM also asked the officials to take up plantation works on a war-footing and distribute about one crore saplings of fruits and flowers to about 40 lakh students to plant them on the premises of schools and colleges on a massive scale, he said. The green drive will be conducted on every fourth Saturday, Srihari said. Instruct the Education department to form green brigades with the students and entrust them the job of plantation and protection of the saplings planted, he said.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has offered Rs 100 crore to provide health and hygiene kits among the girl students of the schools and colleges studying 7th to 12th. This program will be continued for seven days and all the girl students of 7th to 12thclasses will get them, he said. The State government will offer health kits in four spells in a year and each kit costs Rs 1,600 while the total cost is about Rs 100 crore, he added.
