Hyderabad: Heavy rains in Hyderabad since Friday evening have thrown normal life out of gear as water entered low lying areas creating huge traffic blocks at important locations and junctions. The rain started since 7 pm, it intensified at 9 pm and continued till 2 am in the night. Many roads were filled with knee-high water in some areas and in others up to the waist.
According to officials, 18 trees were uprooted. 26 places were water clogged while 129 nalas overflowed. Power disrupted at 30 areas. 7 cm rain was recoded in GHMC limits till 11 pm. The maximum rain occurred at Medchal, Uppal, Malkajgiri and Bandlaguda mandals.
Municipal Corporation has asked to call on phone no 040-21111111. Besides people can call 100 in case of emergencies.
Meanwhile officials of Metrological Department have predicted heavy to very heavy rain in some places of all districts. Rain may occur in Hyderabad and its surrounding areas in the evening or night.
