Helping Hand Foundation Survey reveals medical conditions of Old City residents

Hyderabad: Due to the weak economy and poor conditions of life, many diseases are spreading among the Muslims of Old City. This was revealed by a survey conducted by Helping Hand Foundation recently.

The foundation claimed that 61% of urban population and 66.3% of rural population of the Muslims avail free medical facilities. 44.6% Muslim women prefer Govt. maternity hospitals whereas the remaining women go to private clinics.

80% of the people suffer from fatal diseases like heart attack, cancer etc. It was also revealed that they are forced to borrow money for their treatments. The survey claims that 82% of kidney patients are incapacitated to work.

According to the report of the survey, 43.5% of the Muslim population of the State resides in Hyderabad City. 80% TB patients do not reveal their disease due to societal fear which creates problems in treating them. 40% of TB patients are less than 30 years old, 60% cancer patients are in the age group of 30-50 years.
