Here’s why IAS topper Shah Faesal resigned from Govt. service

Srinagar: Kashmiri IAS topper Shah Faesal who quit government service said, he wanted to join Hurriyat Conference led by Geelani. However, he decided against it as the party opposes the election. He says it is necessary for him to join a mainstream regional party of Kashmir because he also wants to talk about the problems confronted by Kashmiris besides Muslims and minorities of the country. He said he wants to be part of a political party which gives him the freedom to speak about the issues of Indian Muslims, Kashmiris and Minorities.

Faesal said earlier I served people through administration and now I can serve in a better way through politics.

35-year-old, Shah Faisal, who belongs to Kupwara district of Kashmir, said he quit government service to highlight some matters. He said during the past 22 years several killing incidents have been witnessed in Kashmir, marginalization of Indian Muslims was done, horrific videos of cow vigilantes attacking innocent Muslims came to fore, which were never seen before. He says freedom of speech and expression has been curbed. In this situation, it had become difficult for him to remain in service and to suppress the voice of his conscience. He said he could no longer remain silent. Shah Faisal says politics is a good option for him.
