NEW DELHI: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday claimed that it has busted the ISIS-inspired module ‘Harkat-ul-Harb-e-Islam’ and arrested 10 people following multi-city raids.

The agency later displayed the seized weapons and explosive material that it had recovered from the raids.

However, netizens and few Journalists seem to have found the pictures very ‘Shoddy’ and started criticizing NIA and claiming that these arrests are fake.

Taking a dig at the images, Journalists Piyush Rai of Times of India, wrote, “The pic on left is the recovery from a local Meerut gang after a consignment was intercepted in Delhi earlier this year. The second pic (right) is recovery made during NIA raids at 16 locations in West UP from would be terrorists plotting countrywide attacks.”

Rai posted another photo of arms recovery from another gang in Meerut in the past. He wrote, “This recovery from another Meerut gang this year. I am sure such recoveries would surprise many but it is very common in this part of the country.”

Journalist-turned-filmmaker Vinod Kapri wrote, “The NIA has busted a big planned attack by the ISIS in India. The weapons recovered by the NIA include sutli bomb used in Diwali, desi katta etc. These weapons are no used even by local gangs in Meerut.”

Journalist Umashankar Singh of NDTV sarcastically wrote, “The ISIS becomes so helpless after reaching India that it chooses to carry out fidayeen attack using the leftover firecrackers of Diwali. Congrats to the NIA for averting such attack. By the way, how many mass killings have taken place in Syria using these Munger-made weapons?”

Journalist Swati Chaturvedi wrote, “Thank you Ajit Doval, I feel so much safer knowing the ISIS is armed with sutli bombs & local kattas. Less scary than the cow terrorists.”

“I wonder if those bullets will fit in the Desi (locally made pistol) that they have there,” questioned one netizen.

“Phuski bomb recovered in UP as major terror plot was busted,” wrote another netizen on social networking site Facebook.

“Among others, they found aalu bomb, Diwali ka bacha hua firecrackers. U are anti-national if you even think it has anything with politics or elections,” shared one Facebook user, commenting on the timing of the arrests.

Pertinently, the mother of Saeed and Raees Ahmed told Janta Ka Reporter that the NIA officials had seized the family’s hydraulic tractor trolly to claim that they had recovered a rocket launcher.

These 10 people, all Muslims, are accused of allegedly planning attacks on some political personalities and the security establishment as well as crowded places in Delhi and the national capital region.

All arrested are in the age group of 20 to 29 years. Besides Mufti Mohammed Suhail alias Hazrath, the agency arrested Saeed alias Sayeed, 28, Saeed’s brother Raees Ahmed, Saqib Iftekar, 26 and Mohammad Irshad from Amroha.

It arrested Anas Yunus, 24, a B. Tech student of Amity University in Noida, Rashid Zafar Raq, 23, Zubair Malik, 20 and his brother Zaid Malik, 22 and Mohammad Azam, 35, from Delhi’s Jafarabad area of Delhi.
