Mumbai: Members of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) on Tuesday, asked the Censor Board of Film Certification, to refuse a certificate to Padmavati until and unless it is shown to HJS.
“Some organisations have also raised objection that few objectionable scenes were shot on Queen Padmavati and Alauddin Khilji. In this regard Bhansali had presented a video in which he claimed, ‘I was inspired by Queen Padmavati. There is nothing objectionable in my film; only rumours are spread’. If this were true, the simple solution is to exhibit the film in presence of the representatives of the Hindu organisations and clear their doubts,” HJS spokesperson Satish Kochrekar said.
“The Censor Board should interfere and take a stand that unless Bhansali agrees to this demand, a censor certificate will not be issued to the film. If Bhansali fails to take such action, the Censor Board should refuse the certification of the film,” he added, as per a report by Deccan Herald.
A song in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati has created a hype since it has come out. Kochrekar said the dance which queen Padmavati is performing in ’Ghoomar’ is a type of Rajasthani art performed by only a section of the society.
He further said that the director should have learned the facts before having these instances in the film, which will have a negative impact on the future generation.
“Such scenes in a film are deeply imbibed on unblemished mind of children. As a result, the future generation would remember only the dance of Queen Padmavati from the film. Thus. We are imparting wrong sanskars (values) on the future generation,” Kochrekar added.
