Hyderabad: The citizens of Hyderabad should make a mention of Palestine and Jerusalem in their meetings and make the details public so that they should get abreast of the political and historical background of Palestine and also to react on the steps taken by US and Israel. An attempt is being made to confine the political background of Jerusalem and Palestine to religion in order to keep the people of India away from it.
These thoughts were expressed by Ms. Apoorva, South Asia Coordinator of Palestinian Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions National Committee in a meeting held in Hyderabad. She told that by boycotting the Israeli goods, the economy of Israel should be damaged. In this way, the atrocities of Israel could be opposed. She further told that by accepting Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, US has made an attempt to curb the human rights of the local people. Ms. Apoorva told this in a meeting held at “Lamakan”, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad. During the meeting, she told that BDS has been organizing campaigns to boycott Israeli goods in order to protect human rights of Palestinians. She pointed out that Jerusalem is a city of historical importance. There is a resolution of UNO on Civil Right of the people over this city. Despite this, the declaration of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel by US is not acceptable.
UN Security Council has also rejected this declaration of US but India is indirectly supporting the stand taken by Israel. She told that the relations of Govt. of India with Israel are getting strengthened which is against the stand taken by India earlier.
Ms. Apoorva told that due to the negligence of the Palestine issue by Indians, the situation is getting worse which amounts to violating human rights.
Mentioning the business relations of India with Israel, she told that India is very active in seeking cooperation from Israel in Agriculture, Education and Defence sector. In these areas, there is no evidence of the progress of Israel whereas Indian businessmen are incurring losses in crores of rupees.
During her meeting with Mr. Zahed Ali Khan, Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily and Mr. Amer Ali Khan, News Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily at the office of Siasat, she apprised them of the efforts the BDS in highlighting the situation of Palestine at international level and said that Israel is making an attempt to blacklist this organization since it is exposing its criminal activities. She hoped that Siasat Urdu Daily would support this campaign. Editor and News Editor of Siasat assured that every possible help would be provided to the organization.
She informed that Govt. of Telangana is also making an attempt to attract investors from Israel which is not in the interest of the country. She pointed out that the efforts of Govt. of Telangana to improve relations with Israel are not confined to Agriculture and Irrigation Sectors but to take the cooperation of Israel in Defence Organizations located at Hyderabad.
She appealed to the people of Hyderabad that they should share their views about the atrocities of Israel on Palestine with each other and hit the economy of Israel as it had attacked Gaza in 2014.
