Mann Ki Baat: ‘Honest’ Yeddyurappa’s remarks that Airstrike will help BJP win 22 LS seats draws flak

Former Karnataka chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa had earlier said that the BJP is going to get the benefits of India’s air strikes in the Lok Sabha elections and will help BJP win 22 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka in the upcoming general elections.

India on Tuesday carried out air strikes against a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror training camp in Pakistan’s Balakot, in which a “large number of terrorists” were killed, according to Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale.

After the Airstrike in Pakistan, Yeddyurappa in a slip of the tongue stated that “The recent incident of armed forces attacking Pakistan has turned the tide in Narendra Modi’s favour, as the youth is happy after the attack. It will help us win 22 seats in Karnataka.”

‘Honest’ Yeddyurappa’s remarks drew flak from everywhere, as his slip of the tongue led to condemnation all over the nation.

Later after drawing flak from both opposition and from the BJP, Yeddyurappa, in damage control mode, claimed that his statement had been reported out of context.

He stated that “My statement is being reported out of context. I said that the situation is favourable for BJP, which I am saying for the last couple of months. This is not the first time that I said that BJP in Karnataka will win a minimum of 22 seats under the able leadership of Modiji.”
