Hong Kong stocks end lower, Shanghai bounces

Hong Kong: Hong Kong stocks on Wednesday extended the previous day’s drop of more than three percent as a recovery in mainland Chinese markets and bargain-buying failed to offset worries about geopolitical tensions.

The Hang Seng Index slipped 0.38 percent, or 96.77 points, to 25,249.78.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.33 percent, or 8.47 points, to 2,603.30 and the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China’s second exchange, fell 0.24 percent, or 3.07 points, to 1,297.22.
