Hong Kong stocks post small gains at open

Hong Kong: Hong Kong stocks made small gains in the first few minutes of Wednesday after suffering a five-day retreat, while investors remain on edge over the rumbling China-US trade tensions.

The Hang Seng Index edged up 0.15 percent, or 40.27 points, to 26,462.82.

But the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index gave up 0.19 percent, or 5.06 points, to 2,659.74, and the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China’s second exchange, lost 0.06 percent, or 0.89 points, to 1,408.45.
