Houthis violated ceasefire 14 times since Friday: Arab coalition

Sanaa: The Arab Coalition has stated that the Houthis have violated the ceasefire in Yemen 14 times since Friday.

The Houthis had agreed to remove troops and cease fighting in the port city of Hodeidah on December 13, after consultations in Sweden between the rebels and the Yemeni government took place.

“The Houthi terrorist militia continues to violate the ceasefire in Hodeidah. Those violations took place on the areas of Hodeidah as well as the districts of Ad Durayhimi, At Tuhayta, Hays,” a statement released by the Arab coalition, that supports the Yemeni government, mentioned.

“Houthi violations included shooting with all types of weapons such as ballistic missiles, mortar, RPG and Katyusha rockets,” Al Arabiya further quoted the statement as noting.

The coalition’s statement comes in the wake of the arrival of the Head of the United Nations (UN) mission, Patrick Cammaert, in Aden to monitor the ceasefire in Yemen.

Cammaert will be securing the functioning of the Hodeidah port, through which aid and other useful resources will be entering the country that is facing a major hunger crisis due to the fighting.

Furthermore, he will also overlook the withdrawal of the fighters from the port city, according to Al Jazeera.
