HRD ministry: NEET, JEE (Mains) to be conducted twice a year

New Delhi: NEET and JEE will no longer be conducted by CBSE said Union Human Resource Development HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar on Saturday.

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) will be henceforth conducted by the National Testing Agency and twice a year from now on, One India reported.

These entrance exams will be computer-based he said.

“National Testing Agency to conduct NEET, JEE, UGC NET and CMAT exams from now on, the exams will be computer-based. The examinations to be conducted on multiple dates. NEET and JEE exams to be conducted two times in a year, JEE in January and April and NEET in February and May,” the minister added.

“Examination will be conducted for, say, two lakh students per day over four to five days. The student will have the choice to select their dates. It is more student-friendly and open,” he continued.

And the best score among the two tests will be considered for admission he said.

For engineering aspirants, the JEE (Mains) would be conducted in January and April every year, apart from computer-based tests other patterns related to the entrance will remain the same Javadekar added.
