Hyderabad: 32-yr-old Dr Arshad killed in car crash in Chicago

Washington: Two persons were killed in a road accident in Chicago on Thursday. One of the victims was a 32-year-old Indian dentist, pursuing an advanced medical course in the US.

According to police, Dr Arshad Mohammed, who hailed from Hyderabad, was killed in a car crash between a blue Volkswagen travelling the wrong way on the Veterans Memorial Tollway and his black Honda.

36-year-old Robert Velazco of Hammond who was driving the Volkswagen was also killed in the accident.

As reported by News18, a white Ford box truck and a silver Subaru were also struck in the crash in which three others were also injured in the accident.

Two vehicles were destroyed in the crash.

Dr Mohammed was a current resident of orthodontics at UIC, which was closed on Friday in the wake of Mohammed’s death. He was seeking an advanced certificate in orthodontics and a master’s of science in oral sciences.

A graduate from the University of Illinois, Mohammed is a recipient of American Institute of Orthodontics Award and Dr. Alan C. Peterson Scholarship Award.
