Hyderabad: Are land grabbers eyeing graveyards?

Hyderabad: Land grabbers are allegedly eyeing on graveyards. They have reportedly converted many graveyards into a residential area.

According to the report published in TOI, this issue received attention after few activists raised their voice against it.

As per the details, alleged encroachments have been taking place at graveyards at Yakutpura, Dargah Hazrat Wasli Shah at Kacheguda, Taqya Allahu Ghani graveyard at Ziaguda, Masjid Abdulla Khan graveyard at Rahimpura, Masjid Miyan Mishk graveyard at Puranapul and Toli Masjid graveyard.

A resident of Kacheguda, Mr. Hussain Shah alleged that land grabbers have been encroaching graveyard to convert it into commercial space. Due to the lack of documents of wakf lands, land grabbers are eyeing on it.

Mr. Mohammed Habeebuddin, a wakf activist said that there is a need to conduct a survey to save wakf lands.

Commenting on the issue, Wakf Board officials said that they are conducting inspections regularly and taking action against land grabbers.
