Hyderabad: Army deactivates power supply to Dalit slums, restored

Hyderabad: Dalit Slum Dwellers of Ambedkar Huts colony get sigh of relief as Power cut by Army may soon be restored.

The plight of Dalits still continues to haunt the democratic India as around 400 families staying here without basic amenities as the land belongs to the Army.

According to TOI, they used to draw power at night by hanging wires on overhead cables. However, electricity board officials cut those connections recently.

Minister K.T. Rama Rao urged Army officials not to deprive basic amenities like power and water to slum dwellers.
