Hyderabad: Boy imitates cartoon character, sets himself ablaze

Hyderabad: A 12-year-old, boy died in Venkatapuram in Hyderabad while trying to imitate the actions of a cartoon character of a TV show.

Jaideep Madugula who was a 5th class student went to the terrace, doused himself in kerosene and set himself ablaze. Soon the grandparents heard Jaideep’s cries. He was rushed to the nearest hospital. He had suffered about 40 per cent burn injuries and later succumbed to it.

As reported by India Today, the boy was said to have watched a cartoon character on TV laughing while burning in flames. Police believe that the boy might have inspired by the cartoon character.

Jaideep was living with his grandfather in Venkatapuram of Balapur village, while his parents live in Ziaguda of Hyderabad.

A case has been registered by the police on the basis of the complaint filed by his father Mahipal. Boy’s body was handed over to his parents after post-mortem.
