Hyderabad: On Monday, a teenager from Malkajgiri committed suicide because his mother chided him for playing PUBG instead of preparing for his board exam. After his suicide, several experts are seeking a ban on the PUBG.
Achyuta Rao from Balala Hakkula Sangham said, “The game is violent and will have a negative impact on children’s minds. Our NGO has written to the chairperson of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights seeking a ban on the game.”
According to the report of Times Of India, an activist, Vijay Gopal too has been trying to get the game banned in India. In January, he wrote to the NCPCR and MoE&IT demanding that the game to be declared as illegal.
Dr Praveen Kumar, a psychiatrist (Apollo) said, every week at least 10 cases records in treating the children’s addiction to video games including PUBG.
It can also affect children’s physical growth as many prefer spending time in the confines of their rooms, caring little for outdoor games and maintaining a healthy lifestyle,” he added.
