Hyderabad: Doctor assaulted by Patient family, Two arrested

Hyderabad: The City Police have arrested two persons for allegedly assaulting a doctor in Himayatnagar two days ago. However, the suspects alleged that the doctor had misbehaved with a woman resulting in the incident.

According to the police, the incident happened on Friday evening when a woman approached a clinic with a child. “There was some issue between the doctor Michael Aranha and the woman following which the latter called her family members, who attacked the doctor,” said Narayanaguda Sub-Inspector B Dayakar Reddy.

Following a complaint lodged by the doctor, the police registered a case under relevant sections of IPC and Telangana Medical Service Persons and Medical Service Institutions (prevention of violence and damages to property) Act, after which Mustafa and Abu Fazil were arrested. Police said they were registering a case against the doctor as well following a complaint made by the woman.

Meanwhile, the Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP), Twin Cities said the private clinics, nursing homes and a few corporate hospitals have shut down outpatient services for paediatric cases for the next 24 hours in the State capital. The IAP, Twin Cities also condemned the attack on Dr Aranha.
